Ziplining, earthquake faults, and the sites of epic alien battles await you on this fun filled day tour. Are you ready for an adventure?
Ziplining on the north side of the San Gabriels
We'll start off at Union Station in downtown LA and head straight for our first activity, a high-flying zipline adventure surrounded by trees and a world away from Los Angeles. Make sure you wear full-coverage shoes and don't have a fear of heights, or are ready to get rid of one! You'll start with a safety briefing and then spend the next 2.5 hours zipping alongside trees, hiking through the forest, and flying down from the tree tops to the forest floor.
You'll be accompanied by two experienced and friendly guides, who will be with you every step of the way. You'll have a blast flying through the air, but you'll also learn about the forest, it's animal inhabitants, and also about the San Andreas fault and how it has changed the surrounding landscape over thousands of years.
When this part of your adventure is over, you'll have time to grab a bite to eat in downtown Wrightwood. Our recommendation? A lite sandwich and excellent craft beer at The Village Grind. Or maybe you missed out on breakfast? Try out the Evergreen Cafe for breakfast all day, or a hearty meal at Mexico Lindo.
Devil's Punchbowl
After lunch, we head to the Devil's Punch Bowl, to see first-hand the effects of this area's tumultuous past and present. We'll start off with a visit to the nature center, where you will get to see some of the reptiles that live in the park, and talk to experts about how these animals survive on this side of the San Gabriel mountains. Next we'll do a 1/2 mile guided nature hike, starting from a viewpoint and an explanation of the rich geologic history, and moving on to the various plants and animals that make this place home.
Feel like going it alone? Meander through the Punchbowl and then join us near the nature center for a snack and relaxing conversation in the shade of the Pinyon Pines.
Vazquez Rocks - seen in Star Trek, Austin Powers, Starship Troopers, and many others
Feels a bit like the Planet of the Apes, eh?
Vazquez Rocks has an interesting history, starting with early California's own "Zorro" and continuing up to the present day with numerous film, television, and even cartoons. You'll learn about the cultural and geologic history of this unique and famousformation, and even climb it! We'll have a time for a short hike to explore the surrounding area, and then finish our tour with a visit to the new visitor's center.
Seasonal Variations This tour operates year-round, but just like the plants and other animals in the places we visit, we also have to make slight changes from season to season. Be sure to bring a light jacket for the morning portion of the tour, and a hat and water bottle to protect you from the effects of the sun.
