The Integratron - "The fusion of art, science and magic"
We'll start this tour with one of the biggest mysteries in the Mojave Desert: the Integratron. You'll get a chance to view the exterior of this unique architectrue, while your guide shares with you the various historical accounts of it's construction, completion, and various stages of life.
Built by George van Tassel, the Integratron is a parabolic dome constructed almost entirely of wood. Because of it's shape, sounds have interesting effects inside the dome; it was purportedly built to perform cell rejuvenation therapies shared with van Tassel by extra-terrestrials visiting from Venus . . . regardless of what you believe about it's origins, the Integratron is one of the most unique sites to see and experience in California, and possibly even the world. For a complete history of the Integratron, check out the official website: The Integratron.
Mojave Desert, Joshua Tree City and Joshua Tree National Park
There's is nothing like a good old fashioned alien visitation to get the old tummy rumbling! Our next stop is the town of Joshua Tree for some good eats. Take an hour to explore the culinary delights, from gourmet pizza to Thai, and maybe pick up a souvenir or two.
But we're not here for food, are we? We'll soon head into Joshua Tree National Park proper where you'll learn a bit about the geologic and natural history of the area, including some of the tragic events that have unfolded here over the past 200 years. Massacred cattle, mummified miners, not-so-neighborly disputes, forbidden love stories.
We'll finish up our evening with a trip to Pioneertown and Pappy and Harriet's. Grab some BBQ and a beer and celebrate All Saint's Day in style with the musical stylings of local groups.
Not into live music, or maybe you're up a something a little more ghoulish? Take a stroll down Mane Street and re-interpret the shadows cast by the half-moon . . . is that a cactus or a half-wolf/half-man???
